Hope on 9.11.11

On September 9, 2001.....I was in a plane.  It took off out of Baltimore/Washington DC.  I was at the United States Naval Academy getting engaged to a future military pilot.  On the night of September 9th, I got off my plane in Columbus Ohio and walked directly into the arms of my parents, brother and friends.  Then we left.

Directly out of the airport.

36 hours later my fiance called me and said I need to go turn on the TV.

Something is happening.

Today and this week, as Big Boy is asking more and more questions about 9.11.....I turn here, and tell him this :

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them.  They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.  He will wipe away every tear from their eyes.  There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!"

Revelation 21:3-5a

I walk by faith.  Not by sight or the pain I feel.

He will do as He says.

all things new.

this is hope.

  3. Yep, your other Mama said it all, I say Ditto! Oh how I remember all of your story... and that day. I love that your boys have questions, and also love knowing your answers are grounded in the Word. Another big thank you to your humble family for the sacrifices you make that are unique to the military life and that none of us can begin to understand, unless of course you are military! Love you! Love another great post!

  4. So many people have sweet memories laced with bitter ones of the day. I think that sums up the poetry of life, really, and so does that passage you shared.

    (Beautiful photo, by the way)
