Swim Lessons

Closed. The sign is starting to burn brighter on all things summer. Swimming would be top on our list for things that will be missed as summer ends. We were able to take full advantage of our favorite local pool this summer, at least once a week. It was actually a relaxing trip at all times, and one I could do quite easy with all 3 boys. Part of this ease came because of the Big Boy turning into a swimmer this summer. We've been doing swim lessons all summer. Now if you're picturing lots of kids, one instructor, crowded pool and simple heads bobbing up and down. Think again, for sure. We received a great referral to sign up for private lessons that are instructed in the backyard pool of the instructor's home. What a success! The Little Boy blossomed with comfort level in the water, enjoyed having a teacher to impress, and friends to learn alongside. After watching the Big Boy succeed with his class, we signed him up for one on one lessons, 6 of them. He loved it!

Absolutely loved rising to the challenge of anything his teacher asked him to do, showing no fear or hesitation. He was learning truly to be a swimmer...breathing to the side with ear in water, bubble blowing to reach items in the 6ft, freestyle stroke the length of the pool, and for his finale every lesson...a large cannon ball in 6ft touching the bottom before coming up!

I'm exploring options to keep them swimming through the Fall and Winter, although indoor Natatoriums have never felt very clean to me. Eeeeek!

  1. I'm impressed with B's swimming prowess. Seriously. That cannon ball is especially amazing--touching the bottom and all? Whew!

  3. I really want to put Wesley in swimming lessons. Tracey Frue would be my number one teacher for Wesley IF we lived in the same city...now I am just wondering who else to go to...is the instructor that helped Big boy out someone I could be in contact with? I feel the same way about germy Natatorium, but if Julie liked it, maybe I should give it a try...hmmmmm. :)

  4. I think the Collier Pool gives year round lessons as well in a heated pool. Its not like it will be chilly here soon.

  5. Mamma and Pepa are smiling with a heart of JOY for our Big Boy Grandson! There are no words to tell the happiness we are feeling for him. So Proud! We want to see the cannonball! Good Job on seeking out something for B and knowing what he likes and does well in! You are a great MOM!

  6. We also wish we could have been there to watch, so Little Boy could also impress and entertain us! He is most entertaining, for sure!
