I love anything b Karen Kingsbury. A Christian fiction writer who writes about everyday life and doesn't hide the fact that Christians are not perfect, BUT have to deal with the consequence of sin...just my 2 cents :)
Julz, I'm been struggling w/ ideas of good books for you, as I'm an avid reader and it largely depends on your mood.
One that might be easier for you to read (b/c it is short stories) is Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri. Fantastic, and it was a pulitzer prize winner. She has also written The Namesake which is good. - If you want something lighter, anything by Jodi Piccoult is a good read. - I got a response from your hubby on one of my blogs... He's too funny-- I'd forgotten all about stealing his planner back in highschool...
