Process

All of life is a process. But it seems we spend way too much time trying to end the processes and get on to the next best thing, which is really just another process. Some of this is culture induced, some self-inflicted based on the lie that we must always be accomplishing something to feel significant.

I used to hate 'the process' of anything. I want completion and I want it now. Thankfully, God alone has slowed my heart and spirit down so much as I've taken on the life verse Phil. 1:6. I branded it to my heart back in college. Being confident of this that He who began a good work in you will carry it to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. I just don't think there could be a more freeing verse for times in my life. It is peace.

Currently, our family is in a big process of waiting on answers for the future of my husband's job. Most likely, we will be deep in the midst of a career change in less than 2 years. We only wish we knew what that 'change' is going to be, and then we wouldn't have a process! But we continue to search our options, leadings, giftings, and more....and we still have no clear answers. Thankfully, by God's grace and mercy alone neither of us have experienced stress over this matter. It's even comical at times the number of job options we have researched together. He'll come home from a run with a brand new one. And I just love the freedom that flows when we take heart in the process.

Our God is way more into the process. It's in the process we grow in faith, in trust, in character, and our relationships are strengthened as we are vulnerable with our processes. Now our job change process does have an ending point, and I wait in anticipation for the leading. But the process of our life is always present and on-going. I have no completion this side of heaven. He gives me a life to live and experience. If I'm constanly preoccupied with completing the things in my heart, I miss out on the abundance. He will complete me. He promises it!

Wait for the Lord, be strong and take heart, and wait for the Lord.
Psalm 27:14
